568,676 adults in Fiji have received their first dose of the COVID vaccine and 308,258 have received their second doses as of the 7th of this month.

This means that 96.9% of the target population have received at least one dose and 52.9% are now fully vaccinated nationwide.

According to the Ministry of Health vaccination dashboard, 253,975 people in the Central Division have received their first dose while 138,193 people have been fully vaccinated.

In the Western Division, 218,864 people have received their first dose while 127,371 people have been fully vaccinated.

31,587 people have been fully vaccinated in the North while 2,888 people have received both jabs in the Eastern Division.

The Health Ministry says they are currently doing a mop-up exercise of the first dose campaign, which will allow them to specifically target communities with low coverage, and re-look at certain subdivisions that are generating coverage rates beyond 100%.

They say over the next few days, they will start to correct and update the total eligible population for the Ministry’s current vaccination program as updated data is received from the vaccination campaign frontline team.

Fiji’s target population for vaccination is 586,651 adults.
