Eight people appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court this afternoon for allegedly breaching the curfew hours last night.

Ashneel Chand, Naaz Begum, Josefa Raboto, Tomasi, Kavai Taubuli, Ratu Sailosi Tavaga, Sakiasi Verevuni and Sekove Tinalevu have been remanded in custody.

Divisional Prosecuting Officer Eastern, Yasin Ali strongly objected to bail and told the court that it is an issue of national crises and due to COVID-19, government has introduced certain laws inclusive of curfew.

He says it was done to avoid movement of people and despite government initiatives to safeguard peoples lives, these eight people allegedly breached the curfew hours.

The matter has been adjourned till this Friday for plea.
