8 participants from Fiji have joined the Know India Programme for diaspora youth to promote awareness on different facets of life in India and the progress made by the country in various fields of economic, industrial, education, science and technology, communication and information Technology and Culture.

Know India Programme is a three-week program of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs that provide a unique forum for students and young professionals of Indian origin to visit India, share their views, expectations, experiences and develop closer bonds with contemporary India.

There are 60 participants from 15 different countries, of which 8 participants are from Fiji.

Participant Akshay Nand says the Programme is important in our lives because we are 5th-generation Indian and to experience the culture and traditions our ancestors felt is second to none.

He says the vast advances in India will never be replicated anywhere else in the globe and to have that perspective when coming back to Fiji will help with the growth of the nation's best interests in sectors of medicine, election process and governing policies.

Nand says he will be taking this information to his work and a detailed report will also be given to the Prime Minister for further study to understand who we are in this world and the potential we all carry for the good of our nations.

The participant says the main thing for anyone to understand is how important perspective is as it will change them as a person and mold them into a better version of themselves.
