Seventy-eight families and 348 people are taking shelter at one of the seven evacuation centres that are currently open in the western division.

The National Disaster Risk and Management Office says 180 people are sheltering at the Andrews Primary School, 35 are at the Saioni Church, 14 people are at Korovuto College, 14 are at the Tavua District Primary School, 67 evacuees are at Nasele Community Hall, 16 are at the Nokonoko District Hall and 22 evacuees are at the Nasolo Community Hall.

NDRMO says food ration has been distributed to the 61 families sheltering at the four evacuation centres in Nadi, and these families have been sheltered for more than 48 hours.

They say the distribution of food rations and humanitarian supplies will continue to be prioritized as per the policies and regulations.

They further say that fine and sunny weather has been reported from the District Emergency Operation Centres across the four divisions.

The Office says the Northern Emergency Operation Centres are on standby for the weather situation that is forecasted to affect the division.

NDRMO says a flash flood alert remains in force for all low-lying, flood-prone areas and small streams for Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

They are urging the public to remain vigilant as they anticipate more rain.
