62 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded with 34 new cases recorded on Thursday and 28 new cases recorded yesterday.

There has been one COVID-19 death.

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong says a 78-year-old man from Navua was admitted to the CWM Hospital COVID-19 ICU ward with severe respiratory distress.

Dr Fong says he died 16 days later on Tuesday. He was not vaccinated.

There have been 674 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 672 of these deaths during the outbreak that started in April this year.

There are currently 1,530 active cases of COVID-19 in Fiji.

Meanwhile, 87.5 percent of the adult target population are now fully vaccinated while 17,346 children aged between 15 to 17 years have received their 2 doses.

96.5 percent of the target adult population and 31,692 children have received their first dose.
