61 families in the evacuation centres in Nadi received food rations from the Commissioner Western’s Office in light of the flooding in Nadi for the past few days.

Divisional Commissioner Western Apolosi Lewaqai says the recipients of these food rations are evacuees and are currently occupying Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto College, and the VOU Dance Group Office.

He says various faith-based institutions, non-governmental organizations, business houses, and the Ministry of Health have also visited these evacuation centres, donating cooked meals, bottled water, food rations, and hygiene kits.

Lewaqai has advised the general public to take precautionary measures on the likelihood of rain as advised by the Fiji Meteorological Services.

He says emergency operations centres will remain active, as the Fiji Meteorological Service has indicated that rainfall is expected to continue throughout the weekend.

For assistance, please contact Commissioner Western’s Office at 6664946, Commissioner Western’s Direct-line at 9937346, or the nearest police station.
