6 Police officers charged for criminal offences last month

6 police officers were charged last month with offences such as abuse of office, assault causing actual bodily harm, obtaining a financial advantage by deception, unlawful possession of illicit drugs and wrongful confinement.

Acting Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci says Police officers were also victims of crime during the execution of their duties, with 171 officers being victims of 219 reports, whereby 33 were victims of cases with multiple counts.

He says these were for cases of serious assaults, resisting arrest and obstruction of a police officer in due execution of their duties.
