Four people are currently receiving medical treatment at the Valelevu Health Centre after a horrific accident occurred along Kings Road near Vesida, Kinoya last night.

Police say this also includes the suspect who is alleged to have caused the accident.

Director Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana says it's alleged that the driver, while trying to overtake from the inside lane, hit a taxi travelling from the opposite direction. SSP Divuana says the impact of the collision caused parts of the vehicle to fly and hit a third vehicle causing damage.

The Director says the initial information gathered was that the accident was due to the disregard of traffic laws, which could have resulted in the tragic loss of life.

He adds the biggest hurdle faced by law enforcement continues to be drivers’ attitude.

He says Police will continue to issue advisories and conduct traffic operations and is pleading with drivers to understand that their decision not to adhere to or comply with road laws threatens the safety of others as well.
