342 nominations approved by FEO

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem confirms 342 candidate nominations have been approved for next month’s general elections - 12 have been rejected and 2 were withdrawn.

These are the parties and their number of approved nominations - FijiFirst with 55 candidates, The People’s Alliance also with 55, SODELPA with 54, National Federation Party 54, Fiji Labour Party 45, Unity Fiji 38, We Unite Fiji Party 20, All People’s Party 14, New Generation Party 5, and 2 independent candidates.

Of the 342 approved nominations 56 or 16% are women, while 286 or 84% are men.

356 nominations were received for the 2022 general elections.

Today is the objection and appeal day. The deadline is 4pm today.
