33 additional officers from the Police Special Response Unit have been deployed to the Northern Division to assist with the festive season operations.
Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says while police have increased visibility in the Central Business Districts, the public must also take necessary precautions.
Khan has urged people to secure their personal property when moving around the busy city and town areas.
He says opportunist crimes will be widespread over the next few days as major towns and cities will be packed with shoppers so there is a need for everyone to be cautious and vigilant at all times.
