Water Authority of Fiji Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg.

Water Authority of Fiji Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg has confirmed that it will take $2b to $3 billion to fix their ageing infrastructure in the Suva to Nausori corridor.

Soderberg says this is not a cheap exercise and it is part of their 20-year master plan which started from 2013.

He says the biggest component of this plan is the Viria Water Project where Government has put in a lot of money.

Soderberg says the Viria Project has been put in place to handle the turbidity issue that is causing water disruptions in the greater Suva and Nausori area.

He says in the long term, they will need to add another plant in Tamavua to increase capacity, not only for turbidity issue but also for the growing population in these two areas.

The Water Authority of Fiji has been allocated $194.9 million in the 2021/2022 National Budget.
