12-year-old boy charged with rape of 6-year-old cousin last month

11 accused persons, two under-18 yrs old - ODPP

A 12-year-old boy was charged with the rape of his 6-year-old cousin, while a 26-year-old man was charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 5-year-old boy last month.

According to the rape and sexual offences statistics released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, there were 11 people charged with a total of 23 counts of sexual offences.

ODPP says there were 10 cases filed in the High Court with a total of 23 counts of sexual offences last month.

There were 15 counts of rape, one count of aiding and abetting rape, one of indecent assault, one of defilement, and five counts of sexual assault.

They say of the 11 accused persons, two were under the age of 18.

ODPP says there were 11 victims, where eight victims were under the age of 18 years.

There were nine female victims and two male victims.

ODPP says there were four incidents where the victims and the accused were related to one another.

There was one incident where a 28-year-old man was charged with the rape, sexual assault and indecent assault of his 12-year-old and 15-year-old stepdaughters.

In another incident, a 37-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 15-year-old niece, while the victim’s aunt was also charged with one count of aiding and abetting rape.

A 60-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 16-year-old niece.

In another incident, a 17-year-old boy was charged with the defilement of a 14-year-old girl.

There was one incident where a 27-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 19-year-old man, the alleged incident took place when the victim was 7 years old and the accused was 15 years old.

A 29-year-old man was charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman.

A 24-year-old man was charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl, while in another incident, a 46-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 30-year-old woman.
