12 people were arrested in the last 48 hours in connection with alleged unlawful possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu says three men are in custody following a raid in Namara, Labasa where several plastic bags containing white substances, suspected to be methamphetamine were seized.

Driu says over $1,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds of crime, was confiscated during the operation.

In a separate incident in the Western Division, a 26-year-old man from Lautoka was arrested after being found with two plastic bags containing white crystals, suspected to be methamphetamine, along with bullets of dried leaves, believed to be marijuana.

Two other men were arrested in Lautoka in separate cases after being found with sachets of dried leaves, also believed to be marijuana.

This morning, a K9 unit conducted a raid in Tavakubu, Lautoka, resulting in the seizure of white substances believed to be methamphetamine from a 44-year-old man, who is now in police custody.

In Nadi, a 29-year-old man was arrested after the discovery of plants and seedlings suspected to be marijuana.

In Rakiraki Town, four men were taken into custody after police discovered several sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana, along with plastic bags containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine.

ACP Driu says divisional operations are intensifying efforts to target suspected drug dealers and has emphasised that police will continue focusing on disrupting and destabilising the illicit drug trade, with ongoing operations across all five divisions.

Police are urging Fijians to share any information with Crime Stoppers at 919, as every tip helps reduce the supply of illegal drugs.
