Heavy rain experienced over the last few hours has seen Vunitogoloa Village in Ra still under water at mid-day today.

The Fiji National Disaster Management Office says with more rain forecasted for this weekend, it is important that the general public be on high alert and adhere to advisories issued by relevant authorities.

They are urging members of the public to limit unnecessary travel to flooded areas and to stay away or refrain from attempting to cross flooded rivers, roads, walkways or crossings for safety.

Meanwhile, a Flash Flood Warning remains in force for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Nakauvadra, Penang, Yaqara, Nasivi, Qawa, Nakorotari and Nasekawa Rivers while a Flash Flood Alert remains for low-lying areas of Viti Levu.

A Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for Western and Northern Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group while a Heavy Rain Alert Remains in force for the rest of Fiji Group.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies slowly moving over the Southern parts of Fiji associated with clouds and rain continues to affect most parts of the country for the next few days.
