Two men who allegedly assaulted a Police officer remanded in custody

Two men who allegedly assaulted a Police officer in Tailevu have been remanded in custody.

Ilivasi Tabua and Vataia Roko have been charged with 2 counts of serious assault and one count each of criminal trespass, indecently annoying any person, failure to comply with orders, grievous harm and damaging property.

Police Constable Jiutasa Taiki was attending to the report with another officer when there was a commotion which resulted in the group of drunk suspects arguing.

While trying to control the situation, Taiki was allegedly hit on the back of his head with a rock.

He is recovering at his home.

The case has been adjourned till next Monday.
