Hooker Sam Matavesi of Lyon, lock Leone Nakarawa of Castres, second five eighth Josua Tuisova of Racing 92 and Sireli Maqala of Bayonne
4 Fijians have been named in the Top 14 team of the season after outstanding performances for their respective clubs this year.
Hooker Sam Matavesi of Lyon, lock Leone Nakarawa of Castres, second five eighth Josua Tuisova of Racing 92 and Sireli Maqala of Bayonne have been recognised for their efforts this season.
Matavesi was instrumental in Lyon’s forward pack, especially with his lineout accuracy, which added composure.
Nakarawa still brings with him his offloading skills and has moved between bench and starting roles, but continues to bring his lineout brilliance and game-breaking ability.
Six of his 22 offloads have led directly to tries, underlining his unique influence in attack.
Tuisova has been one of the few bright spots in a flat Racing campaign with 68 defenders beaten, eight assists, and 15 linebreaks so far this season.
It was a timely return to form from one of the league’s most destructive runners.
Maqala is staking a claim as Fiji’s next great centre.
The 25-year-old has 10 tries so far under his name, an average of 1.5 linebreaks and four defenders beaten per game.
Meanwhile, round 24 of the French Top 14 competition will kick off at midnight tonight.
