FRIEND Fiji founder and CEO, Sashi Kiran has called on government to replicate the COVID-19 Food Ration assistance that is currently being done in Suva and Nausori for the people who are struggling in the West for the past year and for those who are struggling with no food in quarantine for the past two weeks.

Kiran says in the last 3 days they have received 2,000 distress calls from families who are unable to feed their families during the lockdown adding that 80 percent of the requests are from Nadi.

Kiran says some families in quarantine in Lautoka and Nadi have been isolated for more than two weeks now without any food assistance.

She adds this includes about 21 families who live in a squatter settlement in an urban area and they have nothing.

Kiran says two weeks later they have just managed to get these families food assistance and asks if the government could do the same.

Kiran says they are assessing the applications for food assistance.

She is also calling on those who are coming for the assistance to be honest and for those who are already receiving FNPF or any other assistance not to apply as this assistance is for those who have nothing at all.
