Former Fiji 7s rep Josua Vici played an instrumental role for his US Montauban side as he helped them secure a 24-19 win over Grenoble in the French Pro D2 grand final this morning and earn themselves a promotion into the French Top 14 for next season.
Vici started on the wing and was at the top of his game in terms of attack.
Dedicating his grand final game to his late fellow countryman, Josaia Raisuqe, Vici had the name “J.Raisuqe” written on his arm strap.
The 31-year-old ran a total of 92 metres in 14 carries, making 2 linebreaks, and beating 4 defenders.
In defence, Vici won two turnovers.
Meanwhile, the French Top 14 headed into round 26 this morning with some surprising results.
Perpignan defeated Toulouse 42-35, Bordeaux thrashed Vannes 59-28, Stade Francais defeated Castres 21-10, Pau beat Stade Rochelais 32-18, Clermont beat Montpellier 23-10, Bayonne defeated Toulon 18-10, and Racing 92 defeated Lyon 47-34.
