With the 2024 academic year starting tomorrow, the students of Rokotuivatu District School in Natuva, Tai Vugalei in Tailevu will travel to school in a new 25-horsepower engine boat that was donated to the school management by the Education Ministry.

The Ministry also handed over 100 litres of outboard motor fuel which will transport students from Lomaivuna farming settlements to Rokotuivatu District School which is located on the other side of the river.

While handing over the engine and fuel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Viliame Gavoka urged the Vanua that they should continue to work in collaboration to enhance the education of our children.

Gavoka also highlighted that the provision of boat and engine is a significant step towards ensuring accessibility to education through the provision of a reliable and convenient mode of transportation for students and staff at Rokotuivatu District School, which educates children from both Natuva and Nameka villages in Tailevu and other farming settlements in Lomaivuna, Naitasiri. The School Management expressed their appreciation for the coalition government’s significant investment.
