Police investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department have been assisted by officials from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, with regards to the sourcing of necessary statements and information in relation to the case regarding the death of drug convict, Jone Vakarisi.

Police confirm that their investigation continues.

The Fiji Police Force has extended its appreciation to the Commander of the RFMF, Major General Jone Kalouniwai for the cooperation and support given to the investigating team.

Police say progress of the case will be provided in due course.

fijivillage News has also asked the Police and the RFMF on what is the update regarding the earlier security breaches at the RFMF facilities in Nabua and Lautoka.

Minister for Defence, Pio Tikoduadua had also said earlier this month that he is aware of the reported incidents at the RFMF facilities.

Tikoduadua said both matters have been formally reported to the Fiji Police Force and are currently under investigation, alongside internal investigations being conducted by the RFMF.

The Minister said he had been assured that no arms or ammunition were removed or compromised.

Tikoduadua said the RFMF assured him that they will strengthen security measures across its installations and to maintain heightened vigilance.

The RFMF had earlier confirmed in a statement that attempts were made by unknown individuals to gain unauthorized access to certain RFMF establishments last month and early this month and after a thorough inspection and stock-take, the RFMF can categorically confirm that no weapons, ammunition, or related equipment are missing.
