We have to sharpen the tips of the arrow of the laws to ensure its connected, relevant, people centred, aligns with the International norms and in line with the government's intent.

Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua highlighted this during the Police Act Review Validation Workshop at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva this morning.

Naivalurua says the Fiji Police Force is fighting ahead of the frontline, but the rules of engagement under the Police Act 1965 are outdated.

The Minister further says they have opened their hearts, ears and eyes to the collected views on the Act and they now have gathered to try and make sense of the things that they have agreed to and take it into proper order, into the proper language, before it proceeds into the next stages of the process.

He adds that with the advice from the Police Commissioner, they will bring the draft to the Parliamentary floor.

Naivalurua says this a heavy responsibility that needs to be carried out.

When questioned by fijivillage News on when the review would complete and be tabled in Parliament, Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says he is pushing the team to meet the deadline and present it to the Parliament before the last session.

Meanwhile, the senior officers of the Force are all present for the workshop.

The Workshop will continue tomorrow, however, it will be closed.
