Minister for Housing, Maciu Nalumisa will meet with executives of Fiji Muslim League later today to discuss options of relocating the affected families who have been living in the squatter settlement in Nabua for years.

Nalumisa confirmed this to fijivillage News late last night after Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka revealed that he has instructed the Minister for Housing to quickly work on plans to relocate the residents of the Nabua Muslim League settlement in Suva.

Rabuka says these residents were given eviction notices because the land legally belongs to the Fiji Muslim League.

He says they have been given the notice according to law.

The Prime Minister says the government will ensure they are ready to relocate the affected residents.

He hopes not too many people will be dislocated from native land, where the law will be applied.

Rabuka says the Ministry of Housing is working on the relocation plan, but he cannot give an exact timeline on when the relocation will happen.

The Prime Minister says it depends on how long they have been given time to stay there.

More than 200 families living as squatters on the Fiji Muslim League land have been asked to vacate the land by this Saturday.
