The Fiji Men’s 7s team is through to the Paris Olympics quarter finals after having two convincing wins this morning against Uruguay and the USA.

Fiji will play France in their remaining pool match, and the winner of that match will determine who tops their pool.

If Fiji tops it’s pool, it will either play New Zealand or Ireland in the 3rd quarter final at 8am tomorrow. On this path, Fiji is likely to face Argentina or Australia in the 2nd semi final, and France or New Zealand in the gold medal final.

Fiji is likely to play Australia or Argentina in the quarter finals if they finish second in their pool tomorrow morning.

Fiji made a big statement in their first two games today.

We beat Uruguay 40-12 in our first pool match and defeated the USA 38-12.

Fiji will take on France in their final pool match at 1.30am tomorrow.

The Men’s quarter-finals will kick off at 7am tomorrow. There will be a break on Saturday for the official opening of the Paris Olympics 2024 before the competition resumes on Sunday. The semi-finals will kick off at 1.30am Sunday, and the final will be at 5.45am Sunday.

In other results, Australia beat Samoa 21-14, Argentina beat Kenya 31-12, host France was held to a 12-all draw by the USA, Ireland beat South Africa 10-5, New Zealand thumped Japan 40-12, Australia defeated Kenya 21-7, Argentina overcame Samoa 28-12, France edged Uruguay 19-12 and New Zealand beat South Africa 17-5.

Fiji Men’s 7s secures second win after 38-12 win over the USA

The Fiji Men’s Rugby 7s side secured their second win in the Paris Olympics Men’s 7s competition after defeating the USA 38-12 this morning.

The USA started the game well with an unconverted try to give them a 5-0 lead.

Fiji came back strongly to score 5 tries through Iowane Teba, Kaminieli Rasaku, Selestino Ravutaumada, Josaia Raisuqe and Iosefo Masi with 4 conversions to give Fiji a 33-5 lead at halftime.

Waisea Nacuqu scored Fiji’s only try in the second half with the conversion unsuccessful while Perry Baker scored a converted try for the USA for the final score.

Fiji earlier beat Uruguay 40-12 in their first pool match.

Fiji will now take on France in their final pool match at 1.30am tomorrow.

Fiji Men’s 7s kicks start Paris Olympics 7s on a high with 40-12 win over Uruguay

The Team Fiji Men’s Rugby 7s side has kicked off their Paris Olympics 7s competition campaign on a high after beating Uruguay 40-12 this morning.

Fiji scored a total of 6 tries while Uruguay managed to score only two tries.

Fiji started the game well scoring an unconverted try in the 1st minute through Joji Nasova before Uruguay scored a converted try to lead 7-5.

Fiji came back and scored two converted tries before halftime through Ponipate Loganimasi and Nasova who scored his second try to give Fiji a 19-7 lead at the break.

Waisea Nacuqu gave Fiji the start they wanted in the second half scoring a converted try to extend their lead to 26-7 before Uruguay scored an unconverted try to trail 26-12.

Iowane Teba and Selestino Ravutaumada scored two more converted tries in the 11th and 14th minute respectively to seal the win for Fiji.

Fiji will take on the USA at 6.30am today.

They will take on France in their final pool match at 1.30am tomorrow.
