Police are yet to confirm whether they will appeal Jone Vakarisi's three months sentence, suspended for two years.

Vakarisi was earlier found guilty of unlawful possession of 15.2 grams of marijuana and damaging a police uniform.

Vakarisi had pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana.

He was sentenced by Magistrate Joseph Daurewa, who ordered that Vakarisi must not reoffend during the two-year suspension period.

Magistrate Daurewa also ordered Police to destroy the seized drugs within 28 days.

Meanwhile people continue to raise serious concerns during the Counter Narcotics Bill consultations regarding the trend of those involved in drug-related offences being granted bail or receiving non-custodial sentences.
