Acting Director of Public Prosecutions and Acting Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption, Ratu David-George Leonard Toganivalu has passed away.

According to his family, Ratu David-George was a beloved member of our community, a dedicated lawyer, and a cherished friend and family member.

Ratu David-George passed away peacefully at age 49 yesterday afternoon at his residence in Taro, Bau, Tailevu, surrounded by his loving family.

The family says Ratu David-George Toganivalu was born on 27th December 1973 in Suva, and throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his warm smile, unwavering kindness, and commitment to making the world a better place.

As a lawyer by profession, Ratu David-George had served as Fiji’s Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in the early 2000s and started his private law firm in 2012 and later served as Director of Public Prosecutions in the Republic of Nauru from 2014 to 2017.

He returned to Fiji to continue his law practice and was recently appointed as the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions and Acting Commissioner of FICAC.

Ratu David-George is survived by his wife, Losalini Leweniqila Toganivalu and five children, Maraia Esther, David-Edward, Viliame, Josua and Liliwaimanu; his mother Adi Asilina Davila Toganivalu and three sisters, Angela, Tuipolotu and Diana.

The family requests privacy during this difficult time as they grieve for their beloved Ratu and celebrate his life and express their gratitude for the outpouring of support from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers.

The reguregu will be held on Thursday 5th October and Friday 6th October 2023 at the family residence in Taro, Bau.

The funeral service to honour and remember Ratu David-George’s life will be held on Saturday 7th October at 10am at the Taro Methodist Church.
