Rudd Meeting Would be Valuable
A meeting with the new Australian administration would be valuable to Fiji.

This is the view of the Fiji Trade Union Congress General Secretary Felix Anthony after Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry confirmed that he would be meeting with Australia's Prime Minister - elect Kevin Rudd regarding the travel sanctions against Fiji amongst other issues.

Chaudhry had earlier said that he is looking forward to meeting Rudd soon and added that he hopes the new Labour government will review Australia's current policy towards Fiji, moving away from isolation to one of constructive engagement.

Chaudhry said the FLP has had a long relationship with the Australian Labour Party and he is confident the new government will see things in a wider perspective.
