2 houses destroyed by fire

Two houses were completely destroyed by fire in the last 24 hours.

Earlier this morning, a three bedroom wooden house was destroyed in a fire at Malawai Settlement in Votualevu, Nadi, which has increased the number of house fire incidents to six since Christmas Eve.

National Fire Authority said four people were inside the house when the fire started around 2am.

Investigations show that the fire was caused by a lit candle which was left unattended in the kitchen.

The four managed to run out of the house when they saw smoke coming out.

Last night a four bedroom house was destroyed in a fire at Caubati settlement.
