The Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde said the sentence handed down to the human trafficking case has sent a strong message to would be offenders.
He said this is the second successful prosecution of a human trafficking ring under the 2009 Crimes Decree.
Pryde said his office also recognize the success of this prosecution was only possible with the efforts of Police Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Department of Immigration, and Ministry of Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation.
Meanwhile, one of the four Asians sentenced for human trafficking was also involved in one of the world's largest drug busts.
According to stuff.co, Jason Zhong, 40, was imprisoned in 2004 over a F$1 billion crystal methamphetamine clandestine lab found in Suva.
Stuff.co reported in what was termed Operation Outrigger, Fiji, New Zealand and Australian police monitored a lab at Laucala Beach over 14 months before moving in to discover about a tonne of meth.
Jason Zhong was handed the highest sentence of 11 years 9 months by Chief Justice Paul Madigan.
