Health Ministry prioritises upgrades, equipment and medicines in budget
The Ministry of Health is hoping for increased funding in the upcoming national budget, with Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa highlighting several key priorities, including the upgrade of health facilities, accommodation for health workers, replacement of outdated equipment, and the timely procurement of medication.

Speaking to fijivillage News on the ministry's priorities and expectations, Ravunawa says there is a need to continue upgrading health facilities and staff accommodation, particularly for nurses, doctors and other health workers serving in rural and maritime communities.

He says the ministry is also seeking adequate funding to support wellness programmes, the procurement of medication, and the continued rollout of digital health services.

The Assistant Minister adds that the ministry is focusing on developing climate-resilient health infrastructure to ensure health services remain operational during natural disasters, which Fiji frequently experiences.

The 2026/2027 national budget announcement will be held next Friday.
