Speed cameras to arrive next week
Drivers along Suva-Nausori corridor will soon be monitored with speed cameras coming into Fiji by next week.

Land Transport Authority said that three speed cameras will be shipped from South Africa this Friday and they will be placed along Suva-Nausori as well as Navua-Serua corridor to monitor drivers.

All LTA enforcement officers will have the first hand training once it arrives and 3 adjudicators will be at the base monitoring and providing cases for prosecution with authorised officer issuing traffic infringement notices.

LTA said that this is a pilot project and they starting off with three cameras.

However, it may be extended to other parts of Fiji taking into consideration the high number of defaulters on Fiji roads.

Meanwhile a total of 517 bookings were done for various traffic offences along the Sigatoka Ba highway over a six day period last week.

229 of these bookings were for speeding while other bookings were for careless driving, illegal operations and not wearing seat belts.
