Air Pac hopes Tourism gets enough funds

Fiji's international airline hopes Tourism Fiji will get enough funding for marketing.

With the 2010 National Budget to be announced this Friday, Air Pacific Chief Executive and Managing Director John Campbell said they hope Tourism Fiji has adequate funding especially for Destination Marketing.

Campbell said this as Air Pacific supports destination marketing on a co-operative, joint expenditure basis.

Meanwhile, the green light has now been given to V Australia to start services as all the documentary work and necessary approvals have been obtained.

V Australia is expected to start services from next month and Director Civil Aviation Taito Waradi said we should soon see them setting up their offices in Suva and Nadi.

Also, the Civil Aviation Ministry is awaiting an official response from the Australian Government on airline company, Jet Star being given the rights to start services into Fiji.

Waradi said that while Jet Star has already made the necessary arrangements, the matter rests between the two governments Australia and Fiji, under the Air Services Agreement adding it is the responsibility of the Australian government to formally inform them that Jet Star has been assigned as a designated airline to service the route.

However, he said there is still time as they intend to start services by April next year.
