Water Problems Affect Several Parts of Country
Water problems are now affecting people in several parts of the country with the dry spell continuing.

Water at two of Levuka's reservoirs have reached critical levels forcing the PWD to cut water during the day as two main pump stations, at Totogo Village and at the Pacific Fishing Company, PAFCO site have reached critical levels.

Water supply will only be available from 5am to 8am, then from 12pm to 1pm and from 5pm to 8pm in the evening in Levuka Town and surrounding villages every day.

Up in the North, in Labasa, pump failures at two main bore holes, in Nabekavu and at Nakama has resulted in water cuts around the main centre. According to the Water Supply Department, the pumps broke down on Friday and three engineers from Suva will be arriving today to fix the main pumps.

Meanwhile, in the Central Division, there are not enough water trucks to meet the needs of all those affected by water disruptions.

Divisional Water Engineer Central Eastern, Sereicokocoko Yanuyanurua said, at the moment they have only four trucks carting water to all the areas that are affected by water cuts and this is not enough for residents.

However, Yanuyanurua said they are addressing the issue at the moment and are in talks to get more trucks. He adds that these same trucks are being used to cart water to areas like Samabula, Wailoku and other areas that have no water at the moment.
