Operators want schools to inform them of late school bus arrivals
The Fiji Bus Operators Association is calling on schools to inform bus operators if buses do not reach schools by 8.30 in the morning.

General secretary Rohit Latchan said there is a regulated time for all school buses to reach schools by 8.30am and if buses reach after that, then the matter should be brought up with the bus companies.

Latchan said the school bus time table is designed by the Land Transport Authority and according to the time table, school buses have to reach schools by 8.30am.

Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority is dealing with some complaints from members of the public and teachers that some school buses mainly in Suva are dropping students late in the morning.

This sometimes causes classes to start late as buses arrive at schools close to 9am while some schools have now decided to close the school gates ensuring that students make it to school early.

LTA chief executive officer Naisa Tuinaceva has warned that tough action will be taken if bus drivers and operators continue with this behavior.
