Pacific Sun confirms delay due to bird strike
Pacific Sun has confirmed that its afternoon flight from Labasa to Suva yesterday was delayed due to a bird strike.

General Manager Jim Samson said as a consequence Pacific Sun diverted its second ATR 42 aircraft returning from Funafuti to collect the 35 passengers from Labasa.

He said the incident delayed the remaining Suva - Nadi - Suva flights last night.

Samson said engineers worked through the night on the damaged engine in Labasa and the aircraft resumed service from this morning.

Meanwhile Director Civil Aviation Akuila Waradi confirmed to Fijivillage last night that they had to take the necessary precautions to assess what type of damages was sustained to the aircraft after the bird strike while the plane was taxing on the runaway.

Waradi also confirmed that the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was scheduled to be on the flight which was grounded.
