Unity Fiji Leader Savenaca Narube says the Constitution Review Commission and other such comissions should be stopped.
He has highlighted this while speaking during a panel discussion on the State of the Fijian Economy, where he says things like this should be left to the next government.
Narube says it would be inappropriate to focus on raising revenue at this time, and instead, the focus should be on improving tax compliance and reducing government expenditure.
Narube says the Government should consider reducing non-essential spending, including reducing ministerial salaries to 2022 levels, cutting overseas and local travel, reducing travel allowances, postponing the purchase of new government vehicles,
Meanwhile, former Minister for Economy, Aaiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum agrees and says the government has been spending so much money, time, and energy on things like the Truth and Reconciliation commission and the Constitutional Review Commission.
Sayed-Khaiyum says election is supposed to be held by February and he asks why we are still funding these people and why can't we use that money for something a lot more appropriate, decisive and targeted.
