We want our young people to think outside the box and make Fiji a true hub of innovation in the Pacific.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama made this comment while launching the “Young Entrepreneurship Scheme” at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night.

Bainimarama highlighted that government has allocated a total of $964 million towards the education of young Fijians.

He adds that nothing guarantees a brighter future for Fiji than the education of it’s youth.

Bainimarama says that he wants young people of Fiji to be leaders in business, civil society and government, putting their ideas at the forefront of Fiji’s development with their entrepreneurial spirit carrying our nation to the future.

The Prime Minister congratulated five youths that have been selected by the ‘YES’ judging panel who will be the first to receive $20,000 each to start their business.

 

The successful youths are Atunaisa Rainima of Tailevu, Siwan Narayan of Lautoka, Vincent Padiachy of Labasa, Rovial Kumar of Votualaveu, Nadi and Sandhya Goundar of Nadi.

The ‘YES’ program is applicable to youths between the age of 18-30 and application forms can be found the website, www.yes.gov.fj and can be lodged directly at the Ministry of Industry Trade and Tourism Head office.

The Fijian government will provide funding of up to $20,000 to support the business proposals of the successful youths and training services will also be provided to help them get on their feet.
