British actor Tom Hardy, perhaps best known for his roles as “Bane” in The Dark Knight Rises and “Max” in Mad Max: Fury Road, is back on the silver screen next month as “Eddie Brock” in the superhero movie Venom, based on the character from Marvel’s Spider‑Man comics.

And for inspiration, Hardy turned to UFC headliner Conor McGregor, undoubtedly the world’s most popular mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, because “Notorious” is always down for a “scrap.”

Hardy told E-News that there was an aspect the studio wanted somebody who could fight, which they always do in these sort of hero movies.

He says that they want somebody who can have a scrap and McGregor obviously wants to have a scrap with everybody, so it was useful.

Venom premiers in cinemas on October 4th the day before and will face competition from A Star Is Born, a romantic drama that is actually a remake of a 1976 Barbara Streisand movie that stars, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
