Team Fiji Swimming started off the final day at the pools for the XIV Oceania Championships 2026 with a bang, scoring gold in the 4x100 Metres Mixed Freestyle Relay as well as setting a new record.
The team of Grace Khelan, Anahira McCutcheon, Hansel McCaig, and Tolu Young set a new record of 3 minutes and 39.18 seconds, setting the tone for the night.
Young won the Men's 50 metre Freestyle with a time of 22.82 seconds, with Australia's Koa Stotz winning silver, while Fiji team mate McCaig took the bronze.
McCutcheon won the Women's 50 metres Freestyle with a time of 25.81 seconds, Stacey Morgan of New Zealand took silver, while Annika Kobus of Australia got the bronze.
Team Fiji Aquatics Manager, Sharon Smith says coming into the Championships, they had a set target in mind which they were able to beat.

Smith says it is back to the drawing board after this, as they will now have to select 8 swimmers for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be held from 23rd July to 2nd August, 2026.
Swimming Australia, who have won the Oceania Championships, leads the combined medal tally with 14 gold, 17 silver, and 5 bronze, while Fiji is second with 11 gold and 6 bronze, with Tahiti in third with 7 gold and 4 silver.
In the Men's tally, Tahiti leads with 5 gold, and 2 silver, with Fiji in second with 5 gold and 2 bronze, while Swimming Australia is third with 4 gold, 8 silver and 1 bronze.
In the Women's tally, Swimming Australia has a commanding lead with 9 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze, with Fiji in second with 3 gold and 3 bronze, while Swimming New Zealand is third with 2 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze.
