The Fiji Airways Fijiana team were looking for redemption in their second pool game of the Vancouver Sevens after their opening loss to Australia, but suffered their second defeat against the USA.
They managed to score a try in the first half to trail the USA 14-7 at half-time.
The second half was filled with excitement as both teams had possession and made good use of it, scoring tries to extend their points.
Fiji were given a yellow card in the final seconds of the game, which gave the American players a numerical advantage.
The USA team scored the final try of the game to secure a 26-19 victory.
Fijiana will now turn their focus to their final pool match against Canada at 4.46pm.
The Women’s semi-final will be held at 9.17am tomorrow, with the final at 2.05pm.
