The win keeps Manchester City close behind Premier League leaders Arsenal and halts Liverpool’s recent revival.
Meanwhile, in other results, Nottingham Forest defeated Leeds United 1-nil, Brentford beat Newcastle United 3–nil, Aston Villa thrashed AFC Bournemouth 4–nil, while Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion settled for a nil-all draw.
