Grammar caps 37 First XV players after remarkable 2025 season

The Suva Grammar School tonight capped 37 players from its First XV, celebrating a remarkable 2025 season where the team finished among the national top four and claimed the Southern Zone title.

Grammar Principal Iosefo Masivue told fijivillage News that the capping ceremony, now in its third year, honoured the Under-18 players not only for their role in the First XV but also for their entire rugby journey since joining the school as U14s.

He described the ceremony as a graduation within the Grammar Rugby fraternity, recognising both the sacrifices and successes that shaped the young men.

Masivue says the tradition began in 2022 when Grammar reached the national final against Marist, and it continued in 2023 after a quarterfinal finish.

He further says that a missed year in 2024 only made this year’s return more meaningful.

The Principal adds that the capping is a symbol of pride, resilience, and brotherhood that the boys have built over the years, noting that they wear their caps as proof of their journey, their sacrifice, and their place in the Grammar Rugby family.

The School Sports Awards night will commence at 6pm tomorrow at the Suva Grammar School Hall.

This is part of Grammar's 65th Sapphire Anniversary which concludes with a Grand Ball at Vodafone Arena on Saturday.
