Building a sustainable rugby ecosystem that consistently performs at all levels, week in and week out is the goal and Fiji Rugby is on the verge of becoming a global giant that continues to punch above its weight to maintain Tier one status.

This was shared by Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Fiji Rugby Union Koli Sewabu while opening a groundbreaking week-long symposium dedicated to shaping the future of Fijian rugby.

Sewabu says this is the first symposium of its kind for Fiji as a recognized Tier one rugby nation marking a pivotal step in charting the path forward for the sport in the country.

He says for decades, the world has admired our raw talent and now, it’s time Fiji rugby stamps their identity on the global stage and maintain the unique brand of rugby that Fijians are known for.

He says this week, discussions will move beyond admiration - it’s about taking action, challenging outdated thinking and shifting focus to long-term community development.

Fiji Rugby Union Chairman John Sanday says the symposium is a transformative moment for the sport in the country.

Sanday says Fiji is no longer a Tier two nation with Tier one talent.

He emphasized the need to stay grounded in player development, noting that Fiji Rugby has become a highly marketable global brand.

Sanday says Fiji's style of play has become part of our national identity.

Sanday says the key now is to unite our collective expertise, build sustainable systems, and deliver success on the world stage particularly at the Rugby World Cup and the Olympics.

He says the future of Fiji Rugby is bright but it will only be realized through unity and shared purpose.
