Fiji’s partnership with the World Surf League to secure Fiji Pro as part of the Championship tour has been extended till 2029.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka highlighted this at the Marriott Fiji Resort, Momi Bay this morning.

Gavoka says hosting the Fiji Pro once again at Cloudbreak places Fiji in the global spotlight, allowing us to showcase our landscapes and world-class surfing, but beyond the excitement of the competition, this event also highlights the rich history of Cloudbreak in the surfing world.

He says for decades, it has been a rite of passage for surfers, a place where some legends have been created and dreams come true, and it is right in our backyard.

The Deputy Prime Minister says they will also be inspiring young Fijians to pursue their dreams in surfing and other sports.

He reiterates he is from Cuvu, in the Coral Coast where his home is right by the beach, and from childhood to when he started his career in tourism, he saw how interconnected Fiji is with our seas.

Gavoka says on behalf of the Fijian people, we are proud to share this connection with you.

He says for Fiji, hosting the World Surf League Finals is not only a celebration of sport, it is a partnership that speaks to our values.

The Deputy Prime Minister says this is a commitment to opportunity, community, and to our future.
