The All Blacks 7s will be expecting this Paris Olympics 7s competition to be more challenging than previous Olympic tournaments, especially with the competitiveness of the HSBC World Sevens Series over the past two years.

All Blacks 7s utility back Andrew Knewstubb says a lot of the games in the series were being decided on a kick, penalty call, or one mistake.

Knewstubb says it is extremely tight, but it makes for awesome viewing for everyone at home.

He says it also brings the best out of every team as they have got to be on their game all the time, so it is going to be really tight.

Knewstubb was part of the NZ 7s side that won silver at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The 28-year-old says he was super excited to be in Paris, especially after the challenges he had endured to make the team.

He says he is as well prepared as he can be, and now he is looking forward to getting on to the field with his team

Knewstubb says now, they have one more goal and that is to win gold in Paris.

New Zealand takes on Japan at 4am Thursday in their first pool match, they will then play South Africa at 7.30am on the same day before they play Ireland at 2.30am on Friday in their final pool match.

The Men’s quarter finals will kick off at 7am Friday. There will be a break on Saturday for the official opening of the Paris Olympics 2024 before the competition resumes on Sunday. The semi finals will kick off at 1.30am Sunday, and the final will be at 5.45am Sunday.
