Super Rugby Pacific’s ‘Super Round’ will be staged in Christchurch in 2026.
The round, which Super Rugby Pacific chief executive Jack Mesley had signalled was on the cards in an interview with Stuff in June, will take place in round 11 from April 24th to 26th where five matches will be played.
It will be the first time the event has been held in New Zealand and the first major sporting event at the new One New Zealand Stadium, which has a 25,000-seat capacity, in Christchurch.
With fixture details to be confirmed in the coming weeks, the Crusaders will be the opening act of Super Round on Friday, April 24.
The following day, the Hurricanes face the Brumbies for the Captain Shout Cup, and the Blues tackle the Reds, with the players competing for the Sellars Dixon Medal.
The action concludes with another double-header on Sunday, April 29.
Crusaders chief executive officer Colin Mansbridge says “this event is bigger than rugby’’.
Mansbridge says it’s a celebration of One New Zealand Stadium coming to life.
