Team Fiji weightlifter Maria Liku has won her first international weightlifting medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune, India.
Liku finished in second place with a silver medal after lifting 70 kilograms in the snatch and 84 kilograms in the clean and jerk, with a total lift of 154 kilograms.
Liku was the second weightlifter for Team Fiji to win a medal after Manueli Tulo won the first ever gold at the Games in the weightlifting competition.
Team Fiji General Manager Chris Yee is hoping for a few more medals before the Commonwealth Youth Games finishes next week.
Yee said there are few other athletes that have reached the semifinals and finals in the Athletics competition.
