Portugal qualifies for 2018 FIFA World Cup

Portugal in action against Switzerland

Portugal has qualified for next year’s FIFA World Cup after beating Switzerland 2-0 in their final qualifying pool match.

A draw or a loss would have left Portugal in the playoffs but an own goal from Johan Djourou and a goal from Andre Silva took Portugal through.

France has also qualified for the World Cup after they beat Belarus 2-1.

Meanwhile, Argentina will play Ecuador in the next hour in a do or die situation.
