Netball Fiji announces names for Netball World Cup 2019 team

Netball Fiji today announced the names of 15 players earmarked to represent Fiji at the Netball World Cup 2019 in Liverpool, England.

Veteran player Matila Waqawai who has been to the last three Netball World Cup tournaments and is the country’s most capped player has made it the final squad for the Netball World.

Other players included in the 15 member team are British Amry personnel, Alisi Nawele and Adi Vakaoca Bolakoro, Lydia Panapasa

Unaisi Rauluni, Matila Vocea, Laisani Waqa, Kaitlyn Fisher, Aliso Galo, Aliti Toribau, Asilika Sevutia, Ema Mualuvu, Episake Kahatoka, Kelera Nawai, Merelita Waqanidrola and Matila Waqawai

The team leaves for Brisbane early next week for a three weeks training camp before they travel to Auckland, New Zealand for the test series against the Silver Ferns, the NZ All Stars and the NZ Men’s Netball team.

Earlier this month the Pearls won gold in the Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia and dominated their three test matches against Singapore last month as part of their build up to the World Cup in July.

The Fiji Pearls are in Pool C in the Netball World Cup with Jamaica, South Africa and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Netball World Cup will be held from the 12th to the 21st of July in Liverpool, England.
