Twenty‑four year old All Black Steven Luatua has been named as the replacement Blues captain after regular captain Jerome Kaino was ruled out for the rest of the Super Rugby season due to injury.
The Blues have lost both Jerome Kaino and Charles Piutau for the rest of the Super Rugby season after they were both injured in the Blues victory over the Western Force.
Kaino has dislocated his ring finger and is expected to miss the next eight weeks of rugby.
After Round 12 of the Super Rugby, the Hurricanes continue to top the table with 43 points, second are the Bulls with 34 points while the Brumbies trail in third place with 32 points.
The Blues meet the Rebels at 9.40pm Friday.
