Deputy Prime Minister and People’s Alliance Deputy Leader Manoa Kamikamica says nothing is guaranteed in politics after Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka called him his heir.
While responding to questions by fijivillage News on his position in the People’s Alliance and his strategy heading into the next general elections, Kamikamica says he is honoured that the Prime Minister thinks of him that way, but his focus remains on putting his head down and working.
He says people can judge whether the work he is doing is useful, adding that this has been his approach throughout more than 30 years of his working life.
Kamikamica further says the People’s Alliance has a strong group of leaders and the party is not centred around just one individual.
He says Fiji does not realise that in People's Alliance they have some very solid people including Ro Filipe Tuisawau, Filimoni Vosarogo, Lynda Tabuya and Sakiasi Ditoka, stressing that it is not just the Prime Minister.
He says this depth of leadership is what differentiates the People’s Alliance from other political parties.
Kamikamica says, in his opinion, a number of senior members of the party could easily step into the leadership role because of their calibre.
He says the country needs a group of capable men and women who can carry Fiji forward rather than having just one individual speaking on their own.
